Lumé; Ludivine Lapasset (1979) Bandol, France,
Ecole des beaux arts Toulon (3 years) then Universitat de Belles arts in Barcelona, where she also lived for seven years. From 2009 she’s back in France, living and working in Bandol. Since graduating Lumé has always sought to work with unconventional and different materials. In her work many things happen. The 3D-shapes she creates with, cracks, knots, stretching, all result finally in voluminous soft tones in a harmonious painting. An imaginary or unconscious calligraphy (which does not correspond to any existing language) is often the finishing touch she gives to her canvases. It serves to give a certain balance and is purely graphic, inspired by the Japanese and Chinese art of calligraphy. The viewer sees or attempts to recognize words and names (their own sometimes). This is the desire to strive to identify something real or figurative within abstraction.
